Who Am I?

Hi! I’m Allison (she/her) and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor who has experience helping teens and adults find their ideal career, manage anxiety, and get through life transitions. I am a cisgender Caucasian woman.

I love working with:

  • people who are going through a change in their life and feeling “off”

  • people who are feeling unsatisfied with their current job/career and want to make a change

  • those who have experienced a traumatic event

  • people who have lost someone close to them and don’t know if they’ll be able to keep going

How I Help

As a therapist, I want to help you reach your goals and live more authentically. I look to provide support and positive affirmation but also work to challenge you when appropriate. I want to meet you where you are and work together to get through the hard times. My goal is to empower you and help you develop tools to work through life's difficulties as they come.

Making major life changes in today’s world may feel overwhelming; in that case, therapy can provide a safe place to land, and clarity of what to do next. I’ll help you to sort through the barrage of information to figure out the next steps, and what exactly needs to be done to find your satisfying, meaningful life.

I typically use a mix of mindfulness practices, cognitive behavioral therapy and trauma focused strategies in my work with clients. I am constantly learning about new ways to help my clients - for example, I am currently undergoing training to utilize Acceptance and Commitment therapy (or ACT for short - pronounced “ACT”, not a-c-t).

What it’s like in a session with me

I like to tailor my approach to each client. If you need more guidance to get comfortable with the therapy experience, that's okay! If you're more familiar with therapy and like to be in the driver's seat, that's great as well! I want to provide a supportive, affirming environment that allows you to feel comfortable working through struggles as well as celebrating the wins.

I believe that therapy is not prescriptive and should not be done using a one size fits all approach. I look to tailor my approach to your individual needs.

More about me

During my free time I enjoy spending time with my family, my dog and two cats. When I am not lounging around the house, I love to hike, swim and play tennis. I love exploring Erie and enjoy going to the local shops and restaurants for sweet treats and yummy food! I am also an avid podcast listener and enjoy true crime, horror and psychology podcasts.

“Forces beyond your control can take away everything you possess except one thing, your freedom to choose how you will respond to the situation.”
